A story to be told.
A brand is not a symbol, it’s a story to be told.
A short statement that speaks absolute volumes, and the opening salvo to the ‘Building Your Brand’ workshop session I delivered recently to a group of tech business founders in Liverpool.
The session brought together founders with incredible levels of specialist knowledge in their fields, a true sense of purpose, and the drive to make a real difference.
It also highlighted the importance of sharing what we know.
Thanks to Lyva Labs* providing such an excellent platform for sharing my knowledge, I was able to walk these inspirational individuals through how building an ownable, meaningful and investible brand can help them achieve their goals - whatever their field, whoever their audience.
Like most things built properly, the process of building a meaningful brand begins with the laying of strong foundations (and not, as some would have you believe, with the design of a logo!!!). Following some initial moments of introspection, it first requires the answering of six simple, yet often challenging, questions.
What? Why? Who for? How? Story? Values?
Demonstrating this process step-by-step, asking those questions, and showing how the answers define a brand’s DNA, gave the group a completely fresh perspective on how and where to start building their own brands.
It showed them what a brand really is – COMMUNICATION, NOT DECORATION, A STORY TO BE TOLD.
*The session was delivered on behalf of Lyva Labs - the Liverpool City Region innovation investment company – supporting founders building innovative businesses in deep tech, health tech and life sciences.
